This poly-hyphenate woman is one of Japan's most popular models-singers-actresses. Virtually all her songs are chosen as theme songs for advertising.
She won five best new actress for "Shimotsuma Monogatari" ("Kamikaze Girls" in the US), as she was awesome. She also was in the titular character from Sakuran", an opium addicted prostitute in a popart vision of midieval Japan.
She is also the singing voice for "Nana" in the anime of the same name. This is the second closing theme from the show, which is incredibly popular all around the pacific rim, and is soon to be released in the US.
It is the tale of two girls named Nana, one punk and talented, the other a rather spoiled middle class gal, who forge an unlikely friendship in Tokyo. Punk Nana pursues her career as a singer, while the other slides into becoming a groupie. Actually it is a LOT deeper than that, but...
Anna's music is a mix of punk and hard rock with a touch of disco backing up pop melodies, and her lyrics are usually those of a young woman very much in control of her sexuality.
This song has a sadder tone than most of her material, as evedenced by the title: "Black Tears". It is also one her few entirely in Japanese.
I believe it to be unlicensed outside Japan, as I cannot find references to any distibutors of Anna elsewhere. I post it to increase her fame.
